On May 14, Lake Elsinore Sheriff Station Investigators assisted patrol deputies with an ongoing investigation regarding a past sexual assault that occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Heald Avenue in Lake Elsinore.
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that 27-year-old Gerardo Villagran of Lake Elsinore had committed a sexual assault on a juvenile, according to Sergeant Julio Olguin.
Lake Elsinore Station Investigators and the Special Enforcement Team attempted to contact Villagran at his residence when he attempted to flee out the back door. He was found hiding in a shed and detained without incident, according to Sergeant Olguin.
Villagran was transported to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station for an interview and then booked into the Southwest Detention Center for multiple sexual assault charges. A bail enhancement was authored and approved for $2 million. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 18.
