Over the next two weeks, the striping on Railroad Canyon Road will be improved to enhance the visibility of both biking and traffic lines and make it safer for commuters of all types when they travel through the City of Canyon Lake. The project is funded by the state’s SB-1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act.
The project will revise existing striping along Railroad Canyon Road, both east and westbound, and include green bike pavement legends throughout the extent of the roadway within city limits. In addition, the project will improve the visibility of the center median striping and signage.
The striping improvements will also assist in helping the right turn lane pockets stand out at Skylink Drive and Big Tee Drive.
For the fiscal year 2019/2020, the city received $195,545 from the state’s SB-1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act. The city anticipates that it will receive an additional $213,138 for the fiscal year 2020/2021.
In April, the city received three bids for the project. The bids ranged from $105,750 to $120,00. The contract was awarded to Cat Tracking, Inc., for a sum not to exceed $126,900. The sum includes a 20 percent contingency.
