A 41-year-old Lake Elsinore resident died in the intake sobering cell at the Cois Byrd Detention Center, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday.
On Sunday, August 18, at 2:15 p.m., deputies from the Cois Byrd Detention Center found inmate Joshua Frank Swart unresponsive in the intake sobering cell. Despite deputies and jail medical personnel administering life-saving measures until paramedics arrived on the scene, Swart was ultimately pronounced deceased.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported no signs of foul play.
