The Riverside and Murrieta Police Departments investigated recent school threats made on social media.
The Riverside Police Department currently has an increased police presence at Arlington High School following a threat made on social media. School resource officers are conducting a thorough school threat assessment and response.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the student who made the social media post has been detained by officers.
On September 10, the Murrieta Police Department was made aware of an image circulating on social media that caused concern and led people to believe a school shooting was going to occur.
Patrol officers and school resource officers investigated the image and found no credible threat to any person or school. According to the Murrieta Police Department, the shared image is generic, with no specific schools or persons named. “That same image has been circulating through other school districts in addition to ours,” the department said.
The Murrieta Unified School District was also notified.
Despite the widespread concern, authorities have emphasized that there is no credible threat at this time.
