Murrieta Fire & Rescue receive $462K grant to enhance fire safety

Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) has been awarded the Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, totaling $462,990.47.

This funding runs through August 2026 and will support MFR’s efforts to reduce fire risks by staffing a full-time arson investigator at the fire captain level and providing specialized training and equipment for the Arson Investigation Unit.

The grant requires a 5% match from the City, totaling $23,149.53. Funding is available in the operating budget to cover the required match during the two-year term of the grant.
