One day after stepping into his new role as battalion chief of the Canyon Lake Fire Department, Jeff Roberts was officially badged during the city council meeting on Wednesday.
Following an introduction by Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse, Roberts was officially badged by his eldest daughter, who is currently in the Firefighter Academy at the Ben Clark Training Center.
The ceremony not only marked the beginning of Roberts’ leadership as the new battalion chief but also highlighted the family’s commitment to firefighting. Roberts’ father was also a firefighter.
Roberts, a Canyon Lake resident for more than 20 years, brings a wealth of experience to his new role as battalion chief. Having once served as a captain with the CALFIRE/Riverside County Fire Department at Station 60—now the city’s Station 1—Roberts is no stranger to the community he now protects in a leadership capacity.
Roberts rose through the ranks at CALFIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, where and retired as a battalion chief in July. His extensive experience working as Battalion 2 chief for Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Riverside County made Roberts an exceptional candidate who stood out among others.
Roberts has been a Truck Company training officer, Technical and Special Rescue training officer at the Ben Clark Training Center, and fire captain at Lake Elsinore’s Station 94.
