The City of Canyon Lake selected Calista Grande as its Citizen of the Month. Grande was recognized by the council at the October 9 meeting.
Since becoming a Canyon Lake resident in 2018, Grande has become deeply involved in the community, contributing her time and talents to community clubs, the chamber, and other philanthropic endeavors.
Her primary roles within the Jr. Women’s Club are serving as the director of philanthropy and serving on the Scholarship Committee. She also plays a key role in leading the club’s charitable efforts, such as its clothing drives, and helps in the organization of the club’s annual events, such as the golf tournament and Rocktoberfest.
A dedicated member of the Woman’s Club, Grande serves on the board as the publicity and communications director and has served on the Philanthropy Committee and Scholarship Committee. In addition, Grande has taken on the responsibility of chairing this year’s Fashion Show.
Grande’s community involvement extends to the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, where she served as director of events for more than a year, contributing to the organization of several key events. She is currently assisting in coordinating the chamber’s biggest event, the Parade of Frights, set for October 26.
Grande is also a member of the Mermaids of Canyon Lake Club, where she will play a vital role in the club’s philanthropic efforts and community activities. She recently volunteered to serve as the club’s event chair.
In addition to her club and chamber involvement, Grande takes it upon herself to help those in need whenever she sees an opportunity. For example, if she learns of a family facing challenges, she collaborates with local organizations and clubs to ensure the family’s needs are met. Recently, Grande assisted a Canyon Lake student in collecting several hundred stuffed animals for their senior class project. The stuffed animals will provide comfort to children going through the court system facing crises.
With her dedication and passion for service, Grande continues to make a meaningful impact on the Canyon Lake community, inspiring others to get involved and give back to the community.
The Canyon Lake Citizen of the Month initiative was created in January 2021 to honor Canyon Lake residents for their service to the community. Each awardee is recognized during a city council meeting and presented with a Citizen of the Month certificate.
Community members are encouraged to nominate Citizens of the Month by submitting their names and a short paragraph detailing their good work to [email protected]. Residents of all ages are eligible to be nominated for this award.
