Adam Fisher, a 15-year resident of Canyon Lake, has transformed his passion for diving into a successful underwater recovery business.
With 12 years of diving experience, Fisher officially launched his recovery service in 2020, offering to locate lost items in local lakes.
Fisher is dedicated to both his craft and the environment. When he isn’t recovering lost items, he dedicates his time to cleaning up the bottom of the lake. For safety reasons, he dives in non-boat areas. His underwater finds include skateboards, fishing poles, anchors, sunglasses, keys, cell phones, chairs, ladders, and umbrellas.
Fisher recognized that the bottom of the lake is littered with “an abundance of beer cans and bottles,” which he plans to specifically target in a future dive.
Depending on the type of trash he collects from the bottom of the lake, Fisher either disposes of it or keeps it. Among his many finds, he has amassed a collection of fishing lures.
Charging $150 per recovery, Fisher boasts an impressive success rate, finding lost items in 99 percent of the cases, provided he can search the general area where they were lost. “If the client knows the general area of where they lost their item, I’m likely to find it,” Fisher said. The most expensive items he has recovered for clients include drones and an insulin pump valued at $15,000.
Equipped with a wetsuit, mask, boots, gloves, and a dive hood, Fisher adapts to the changing water temperatures by donning a thicker wetsuit in colder months. His equipment also includes a GoPro for footage, a dive knife to cut away anything he might get caught in, and a flashlight for low-visibility areas. This setup ensures he can handle various underwater conditions while performing his recovery work.
Fisher recently purchased an underwater metal detector, a tool that will be helpful when he searches for small metal items such as jewelry.
Diving is in Fisher’s genes. His father, who has worked as a diver for Disney for more than 20 years, has undoubtedly influenced his career path. Additionally, Fisher collaborates with a company responsible for dredging the Finding Nemo Attraction at Disneyland every two years, bringing his skills to one of the most iconic theme parks in the world.
Through his business, Fisher combines his passion for diving with a service that not only helps people but also contributes to cleaning the lake. Whether recovering valuable items or removing debris, his work continues to make an impact in Canyon Lake.
