The City of Canyon Lake held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to unveil its newly remodeled Council Chamber. This comprehensive project, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), relocates the chamber to the main level of the city building, specifically in the library’s old space.
Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel, EVMWD Director Darcy Burke, Riverside County Sheriff’s Captain James Rayls, POA President Bill Van Vleet, Chamber President John Grande, former City Manager Chris Mann, and representatives from the offices of Senator Kelly Seyarto and Assemblyman Bill Essayli attended the ceremony. Councilman Dale Welty was given the honor of cutting the ribbon.
The much-anticipated renovation enhances the chamber’s functionality and appearance, incorporating advanced technology, custom cabinetry, and updated flooring.
The renovation also includes the addition of new chairs, a modern podium, an updated dais, and a prominently displayed city seal, reflecting a fresh and professional environment for city business.
The project began with a groundbreaking ceremony on August 21, which marked the start of interior improvements.
Designed to better serve the needs of the city and its residents, the updated chamber provides a more accessible and welcoming space for city council sessions, public meetings, and events.
