The 45th Annual Valley Quilters Guild Quilt Show is set to take place on Friday, February 7, and Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Valley-Wide Recreation Center at 901 W. Esplanade in San Jacinto.
More than 100 unique quilts will be on display, with awards presented in a variety of categories.
The Quilts of Valor quilts from Sun City will be presented to deserving veterans. Attendees can visit the Quilts of Valor booth in the vendor area, where member Rose Rhodes will be available to answer questions and share information about this national organization and how it serves the nation’s veterans.
The popular Consignment Shop will feature many donated items for sale, including sewing machines, fabric, thread batting, books, and other quilt-related gems.
This year’s featured quilter, Judy Bjorklund, will have a selection of her quilts on display and be available to discuss her techniques and style.
Demonstrations by Guild members will be held throughout the show, offering tips and insights into various quilting methods.
Quilter, instructor, and certified appraiser Ann Turley will judge the competition, with Viewer Choice Award winners determined by show attendees.
Founded in 1981, Valley Quilters Guild of Hemet is a nonprofit organization that has more than 90 members. Its purpose is to promote sociability, fellowship, cooperation, and exchange of ideas among those interested in or engaged in quilting, to work on community projects in quilting, and to further the interest of members in the art of quilting. Proceeds from ticket sales allow the Guild to sponsor four to six $1,000 college scholarships for local high school graduating seniors.
