
Joanna Spiller, a beloved longtime resident of Canyon Lake, passed away on December 21, 2024.
Known for her unwavering dedication to her community, Spiller devoted countless hours to volunteering and making a difference in the lives of others.
Over the years, Spiller’s contributions were widely recognized. She was Canyon Lake’s Volunteer of the Year in 2003, Citizen of the Year in 2014, and named Fiesta Day Grand Marshal in 2018.
A member of the Canyon Lake Lioness/Lions Club since 1990, Spiller’s impact extended to many facets of community life. She was an active member of several clubs, serving as president of both the Woman’s Club and Women’s Golf Club. She also played a vital role on the Canyon Lake Fiesta Day Committee for more than 15 years. From 1991 to 1994, Spiller served as the chair of the POA Election Committee.
One of Spiller’s greatest passions was Honor Flight, an organization dedicated to transporting veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials honoring their service.
Spiller’s legacy of selflessness and commitment to her community will not be forgotten. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on Canyon Lake and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12, at Evans Brown Mortuary at 27010 Encanto Dr., Sun City. A viewing is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service and a reception.
