During the January 8 meeting of the Canyon Lake City Council, the council honored resident Suzy Bowman for her act of kindness on Thanksgiving.

Bowman was recognized for opening her home to host a Thanksgiving dinner for 30 Marines from Camp Pendleton, providing them with a warm and welcoming holiday experience while stationed away from their families.

Inspired by her own connection to the military—her son, a Marine stationed in Florida, was unable to travel home for Thanksgiving—Bowman ensured the visiting Marines enjoyed a catered Thanksgiving feast and felt a sense of home.

Bowman’s generosity did not go unnoticed. When Texas Roadhouse learned of her plans, the restaurant extended a discount to help offset the cost of the meal.

Boman’s thoughtful gesture brought comfort to service members during the holiday season and is an example of the spirit of generosity and community that defines Canyon Lake.
