The Canyon Lake City Council honored Mindy and Jeff LaTendresse as the February Citizens of the Month during its meeting on February 12.

The LaTendresses were honored for their generosity and dedication to supporting the community, particularly during a power outage and the city’s annual Turkey Drive.

When the Canyon Lake Fire Department’s generator failed during a power outage last month, the LaTendresses opened their home to the on-duty crew. They provided warm beds, food, and Wi-Fi, allowing the crew to continue their operations without interruption.

The couple was also commended for their contributions to the city’s annual Turkey Drive in November. They donated 17 turkeys to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.

Mindy further demonstrated her generosity by donating her $100 winnings in the Woman’s Club chili cookoff to the Canyon Lake Firefighters Association. In addition to her turkey donations and opening their home to the fire department crew, Mindy placed first in the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club chili cookoff and donated her winnings to the Canyon Lake Firefighters Association.

The city council expressed its gratitude for the LaTendresses’ selflessness and positive impact on the community, highlighting their dedication as a shining example of Canyon Lake’s community spirit.

The Canyon Lake Citizen of the Month initiative was created in January 2021 to honor Canyon Lake residents for their service to the community. Each awardee is recognized with a certificate. Community members are encouraged to nominate Citizens of the Month by submitting their names and a short paragraph detailing their good work to [email protected]. Residents of all ages are eligible to be nominated for this award.
