The Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors approved $556,824 in funding to update the sports lighting at Gault Field.
According to the POA, the Field 1 metal halide lighting was installed in the mid-90s, while the lighting on Field 2 dates back to the mid-80s.
The approved funding includes the geotechnical report, permit fees, and a 5% contingency from the Reserve Fund. This project includes replacing three 40-year-old wooden poles on Field 2.
The new lighting is expected to be more energy-efficient, reduce maintenance needs, improve light quality, and reduce glare and light pollution. The POA estimates annual savings of $30,000 to $32,000 in energy and maintenance costs.
The POA said it accepted the lowest of the three bids received for the project, with the highest bid coming in $200,000 higher than the lowest bid.
