Terry Makeig, a 30-year resident of Canyon Lake, passed away on February 28, surrounded by her family. She suffered a stroke on February 27 and, in her final moments, was embraced by those who loved her.
Born April 8, 1949, Makeig made a significant positive impact on many young lives through her dedicated work to education and Girl Scouts. She worked as a teacher’s aide for seven years before earning her teaching credentials and going on to teach first grade at the Val Verde School District.
Makeig formed the first Girl Scout Troop in Canyon Lake, serving as a scout leader for eight years. She was also involved with the Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club, helping with events and acting as the club’s secretary.
Makeig was involved in her church, Revival Christian Fellowship, and served as a volunteer in the children’s ministry, Mom’s ministry, and Women’s ministry, as well as being a devoted attendee of the women’s Bible study.
Makeig touched the hearts and lives of those she knew and loved and was always eager to help out in any way she could.
Makeig is survived by her husband, daughter, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, at 11 a.m. at Revival Christian Fellowship, located at 29220 Scott Road, Menifee.
