In the early hours of March 22, Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of W. Lakeshore Drive, where they located a victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Shortly after, deputies were notified of a victim who arrived at a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, which was later determined to be related. The Lake Elsinore Station’s Investigations Bureau responded to assist with the investigation and discovered this incident was possibly gang-related.
With the support of the Region 4 Gang Task Force, the Lake Elsinore Station’s Special Enforcement Team launched an inquiry into the shooting and identified 19-year-old Kenyelo Centeno-Guzman of Lake Elsinore as the suspect.
On March 27, residential search warrants were served, resulting in the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of Centeno-Guzman on attempted murder charges. Additionally, Belica Guzman, a 41-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, was arrested on suspicion of evidence tampering, child endangerment, and willfully delaying/obstructing a peace officer.
Region 4 Gang Task Force will be seeking gang-related enhancements to this incident.
