Motorcyclist killed in solo crash on Railroad Canyon Road

A motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in a solo crash at Railroad Canyon Road and Church Street.

On April 15 at about 12:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle at Railroad Canyon Road and Church Street in the City of Lake Elsinore.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The road was temporarily closed in both directions, from Railroad Canyon Road and Grape Street through Railroad Canyon Road and Tassel Way.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, and drugs and alcohol were not deemed to be a factor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The Lake Elsinore Station’s Traffic Unit assumed the investigation.

The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, but the individual is believed to have been an off-duty San Bernardino County firefighter.

Following the accident, a procession took place, starting at the crash site and ending at the coroner’s office in the City of Perris. Numerous firefighters, police officers, and citizens lined the streets to pay their respects.
