A Hemet man and his girlfriend were arrested on May 7 for allegedly selling marijuana vape products to minors in Menifee and Murrieta.
The case began on February 7 when the Murrieta Police Department’s Community Policing Team (CPT) arrested an adult male for allegedly selling marijuana vape pens to juveniles at California Oaks Sports Park.
During the investigation, officers discovered the suspect was a delivery driver and potentially connected to a larger organization engaged in distributing marijuana products to minors.
The investigation efforts led to the identification of the primary suspect, a resident of Hemet. Detectives also learned that the Menifee Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team was conducting a separate investigation involving the same individual for similar offenses involving sales of marijuana products to juveniles in the City of Menifee. Murrieta and Menifee detectives began collaborating to locate and apprehend the suspect.
On May 7, the suspect and his girlfriend were taken into custody. Multiple search warrants were served in connection with the case, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of marijuana vape products and other drugs.
According to the Murrieta Police Department, many of the confiscated products were packaged to appeal to children, using candy flavors, animated characters, and video game-themed graphics.
The evidence collected during the arrest included 1,256 THC vape pens/products, 214 nicotine vape pens, 252 grams of Psilocybin (mushrooms), 14 ounces of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 68 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 90 chocolate candy bars infused with psychoactive mushrooms, and $9,192.80 in U.S. currency, the Murrieta Police Department said in a news release. The estimated street value of the items is approximately $52,000, not including the U.S. currency.
