The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club has announced that the 39th Annual Kids Fishing Derby will not take place this year.
The decision was made in support of the lake’s ongoing ecosystem recovery and fish population restoration efforts following a recent golden algae bloom and resulting fish kill.
While the derby is a long-standing community favorite, typically drawing between 200 and 400 young anglers between the ages of five and 15, the Bassmasters remain committed to preserving the health of the lake and ensuring the sustainability of future fishing events.
