Several suspects allegedly involved in a home invasion robbery and murder nearly two decades ago in Mead Valley were arrested this month after the case was reopened earlier this year.
On June 13, 2007, at 11:54 p.m., Perris Sheriff’s Station deputies responding to reports of a home invasion and shooting at a residence located in the 19000 block of Mariposa Avenue located 51-year-old Andres Valdes suffering from gunshot injuries. Valdes was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Several additional victims, all of whom had sustained minor injuries, were also located at the scene.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Vales was shot and killed when he became involved in a physical altercation with several masked suspects who entered the property with the intent of committing a robbery.
With few leads and evidence, the case went cold without an arrest.
In February 2025, the case was reopened. Over the past several months, multiple suspects believe to have been involved in the robbery and murder were identified. With the assistance of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Gang Impact Team, five suspects were arrested: 37-year old Kenneth Tucker of Riverside, 36-year-old Deshawn Hill of Riverside, 37-year-old Dennis Haynes of Phoenix, Arizona, 37-year-old Kenneth Haynes of Phoenix, Arizona, and 37-year-old Keith Crutchfield of Killeen, Texas.
Hill was arrested on July 5 in Riverside. Tucker was arrested in Riverside the following day. On July 14, Dennis Haynes was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona, and Kenneth Haynes was arrested in Beaumont, Texas. Crutchfield was arrested on July 21 in Belton, Texas. The suspects arrested out of state will be extradited to Riverside County.
