On July 21, a Riverside County jury convicted Aaron Moore of multiple felony charges, including torture, corporal injury to a spouse with great bodily injury, criminal threats, and intimidating a witness, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday.
Moore, who is scheduled to be sentenced on September 15 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, faces a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.
According to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Moore tortured his wife of 24 years when he found her getting ready to speak with the neighbors about an incident he was involved in.
Moore is accused of violently beating his wife. “After briefly stopping, he suggests she eats food and writes their children letters, should he kill her that night,” the DA’s Office said. “He then strangled the victim twice.”
The day after the beating, Moore allegedly ordered his wife to cover her bruises before dropping her off at work and threatening to kill her if she reported the abuse to law enforcement. Despite the threats, the victim courageously reported Moore to law enforcement, leading to his arrest and conviction.
