Hemet man arrested following altercation over minor traffic collision, victim in critical condition

A 27-year-old Hemet man was arrested on Monday following an altercation over a minor traffic collision.

Around 9:20 p.m., deputies assigned to the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a shooting in the 41000 block of Highway 74 in the unincorporated area of Hemet and located an adult male suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. The suspect fled the scene.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the victim had been in an altercation with the suspect over a minor traffic collision prior to the shooting. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly attempted to rob the victim.

Later, the suspect, 27-year-old Kenneth Green of Hemet, returned to the crime scene and turned himself in. Green was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and criminal threats.
