A woman has died following a suspected DUI collision in Murrieta on Thursday. The crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of California Oaks Road and Skyview Ridge.
According to the Murrieta Police Department, a truck driven by 39-year-old Jaime Ruiz Jr. of Murrieta was traveling westbound on California Oaks Road when it entered the intersection at Skyview Ridge and collided with the victim’s vehicle.
The victim, an adult female, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Ruiz was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and child endangerment. His bail was set at $75,000. He was released the following day with a court date set for September 22.
