The Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station deputies will be conducting a DUI enforcement operation on August 15. From 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., deputies will be looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
Deputies from the Perris Station conducted a similar enforcement operation on August 8 and arrested five drivers on suspicion of driving while under the influence. Eighteen citations were issued for various vehicle code violations, including speeding and cell phone violations, two misdemeanor warrants were served, and one person was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance.
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
“Impaired driving is preventable,” Deputy Jess Kiebach said. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
