On August 8, Anthony Renard Miles Jr. of Murrieta was sentenced to 55 years to life in prison after being found guilty of murder in connection with a 2023 shooting in Hemet.
The case stemmed from a shooting that occurred on November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:42 p.m., when the Hemet Police Department received a report of gunshots in the 800 block of South Palm Avenue. Arriving officers found an adult male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Officers provided lifesaving measures until relieved by Hemet Fire personnel, who transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
During the course of the investigation, investigators identified and arrested Miles for homicide. His bail was set at $1 million.
“This complex investigation involved investigators from the Hemet Police Department in cooperation with the Riverside County Gang Impact Team and RSO’s Central Homicide Unit,” the Hemet Police Department said. “This outcome would not have been possible without the dedication, teamwork, and the countless hours invested by everyone involved.”
