Smiles and gratitude filled the room at the Menifee Union School District Family Engagement Center as families received new backpacks stocked with supplies for the school year. Thanks to the generosity of Temecula Valley Toyota and the Kids In Need Foundation, students walked away prepared to start school.
What might seem like a simple gift—a backpack and some supplies—carries tremendous weight for families facing financial challenges. Through Toyota’s Big Summer Giveback program, this support for Menifee students goes beyond supplies; it provides students with the tools and encouragement they need to start the year strong.
“What inspires me most is that this event is grounded in compassion and collaboration,” Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Root said. “When businesses, nonprofits, and schools come together, we can remove barriers for students and help every child feel prepared and valued. That is what this partnership represents, and it’s something our entire community can be proud of.”
Board President Kyle Root emphasized the bigger picture. “Education is more than academics—it’s making sure every student has the foundation they need to thrive. Watching our community rally around students reminds us that we’re all in this together. These backpacks carry supplies, yes, but they also carry hope, dignity, and the promise of a brighter school year.”
