Colby and Jose Flores, a husband-and-wife team from Corona, are proving that passion, community, and creativity go hand in hand.
Married since April 2021, the couple has built a reputation not only for their generosity but also for their entrepreneurial drive. They are the founders of Murphy’s Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about pit bull breeds. The couple has long supported local causes, serving as donors to the Corona Animal Shelter and the I Pity the Bull Foundation, as well as sponsors of youth baseball and gymnastics teams.
Beyond philanthropy, both are entrepreneurs in their own right. Jose owns Custom Culinary Solutions, a food consulting company, while Colby runs her own business, Colby Does Hair, as a professional cosmetologist in Corona.
Looking for something they could build together, the pair launched Frosty Sipz, a beverage snack truck, crafting gourmet mocktails with fresh fruit and candy garnishes. Launched in March 2025, their food truck venture quickly grew from one truck to two trucks in just six months.
As their food truck venture grew, they ran into a frustrating problem: traditional cocktail picks and swords weren’t capable of holding their elaborate garnishes in place. Fruit and candy often slid into the drinks, presentation suffered, and their elevated creations didn’t look the way they envisioned.
That’s when Jose decided to invent a solution.
Out of necessity, the GarnishMate was born—a patent-pending, clip-on garnish pick designed to hold garnishes securely above the rim of the glass. Unlike traditional picks, GarnishMate creates three inches of vertical space, preventing crowding, soggy garnishes, and messy presentations. Made in the USA from food-grade plastic, the product allows bartenders, mixologists, beverage vendors, and even home entertainers to serve drinks that are not only functional but also visually stunning.
“Traditional garnish picks just weren’t cutting it—literally,” said Jose. “We wanted something that made every drink look clean, stylish, and consistent without slowing down service.”
The benefits go beyond aesthetics. GarnishMate saves time, reduces waste, and eliminates the need for extra plates or utensils often used to balance garnishes. By keeping everything securely anchored above the rim, it makes drinks more enjoyable and easier to handle.
“One of the most important benefits of GarnishMate is the hygienic aspect,” Jose said. “GarnishMate keeps the garnishes away from the liquid, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and allowing the consumer to make their own choice of adding the garnishes to their drink or removing it. No one likes to see a squeezed lime in their drink and not know where it came from or how it was handled.”
