In its newly released Best Colleges for Hispanic Students rankings, Washington Monthly has recognized Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) as one of the nation’s top two-year Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), placing the college among only 10 California community colleges to earn this distinction. This honor highlights MSJC as a leader in advancing equity and opportunity for Hispanic students.

The Best Colleges for Hispanic Students ranking combines Washington Monthly’s emphasis on social mobility with decades of research from Excelencia in Education. This Washington D.C.-based nonprofit evaluates how well colleges serve Hispanic students, measuring outcomes such as transfer and graduation rates—key indicators of institutional support and student achievement.

According to MSJC, more than half of its student population identifies as Hispanic. The college first earned its official HSI designation in 2001 and has since grown into a hub for access, transfer, and career success for students across the Inland Empire.
