On August 29, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association presented its Marine Patrol report for incidents that occurred from July 28 through August 24. The report highlighted 173 calls for service.
Staff performed 50 boat safety inspections, 58 quagga inspections, 29 boat tows, two battery assists, four fishing license checks, and 11 debris/other retrieval and disposal.
In addition to 39 verbal and three written warnings, staff issued 14 citations. They include one citation for expired/no registration at a dock or lift, three citations for excessive wake in a no-wake zone, two citations for reckless behavior while operating a motorized boat, one citation for loud noise, three citations for failure to present a valid ID/CBC, and two “other” violations.
Patrol boats operated 205.1 hours on the main lake, 152.8 hours on the East Bay, and 5.8 hours on the north ski area.
Boat one operated 178.4 hours, boat two operated 179.5 hours, boat three operated 5.8 hours, and boat four did not operate.
Unlike Community Patrol employees, Marine Patrol employees are employed by the Canyon Lake POA. Its primary functions are compliance with rules and regulations, quagga and boat safety inspections, and incident observation and reporting.
