False assault report triggers lockdown at Lake Elsinore’s Lakeside High School

Lake Elsinore’s Lakeside High School was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon, September 5, after deputies received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident occurred around 2:58 p.m. when deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the school. Multiple ambulances were staged nearby while deputies, with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, conducted a safety sweep and search of the area.

Authorities determined there was no credible threat, and the lockdown was lifted. Students were released at about 4 p.m.

The school notified parents of the lockdown via Parentsquare, a platform that connects parents, teachers, and schools through email, phone, app, and web.

No injuries were reported, and no evidence of an assault was found.

Authorities are continuing to investigate this incident in an attempt to identify the caller responsible for the false reporting. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Deputy Anderson 951-245-3300.
