A Temecula man was killed on Friday night after being assaulted and left in the roadway, where he was struck by a vehicle.
On September 6 at approximately 11:50 p.m., a deputy from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station was patrolling near Pechanga Parkway and Wolf Valley Road when he discovered an unresponsive adult male lying in the roadway on Pechanga Parkway.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old George Fresquez IV of Temecula, had sustained traumatic injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported. Despite life-saving measures, Fresquez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Fresquez had been assaulted and left unresponsive in the roadway, where he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Pechanga Parkway.
The investigation identified 39-year-old Alex Leyva of Vista as the suspect responsible for the assault. He was located and arrested on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
The driver of the vehicle suspected of striking Quinn was also located. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the driver was cooperative with the investigation and was later released. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
