Menifee police officers responded early Tuesday morning to Menifee Global Hospital after receiving a report of a possible suicide threat in the hospital parking lot.
At about 6:35 a.m., hospital staff reported receiving a phone call from a man claiming he was in the parking lot and intended to take his own life. The caller also reportedly stated that he would shoot anyone who attempted to approach his vehicle. The call abruptly ended with what sounded like a gunshot, authorities said.
Menifee officers searched the parking areas and the hospital and determined there was no active threat or suicidal subject on the property.
Nearby Hans Christensen Middle School was not placed on a “secure campus” status, as originally reported by the Menifee Police Department, as the situation was resolved prior to students arriving on campus.
