Murrieta Fire & Rescue has named Captain Brandon Roach as its 2025 Firefighter of the Year, the highest honor presented to a line firefighter whose leadership and dedication set a standard of excellence across the department.
Already recognized for 15 years of distinguished service, Roach’s impact in 2025 extended beyond his duties as a fire captain. In addition to mentoring and guiding his crew, he took on the challenge of three major programs: the Tech Rescue Program, the complex Tiller Training Program, and the Annual BBQ Beer Garden.
With the arrival of the department’s new 100-foot aerial apparatus, Roach spearheaded the effort to train every firefighter, engineer, and captain on its operation. He played a key role in developing the curriculum, coordinating with outside agencies, and conducting hands-on training. Balancing these responsibilities while managing a demanding crew showcases Roach’s leadership and his commitment to shaping the future of Murrieta Fire & Rescue.
