Murrieta Fire & Rescue’s Fire Station 1 is getting an upgrade. The Fire Station 1 Site Improvements Project is set to begin on Wednesday, December 3, with an anticipated completion date in May 2026.
The project is designed to modernize the station’s aging infrastructure, enhancing site safety and environmental compliance. Key upgrades include a full transition from the existing septic system to a new municipal sewer connection, installation of modular wetland systems for improved water quality, and necessary ADA modifications to site access. Additional work involves site grading, removing and replacing site concrete and asphalt, new gates and fencing, and relocating the natural gas generator.
“Modernizing the fire service means more than just new equipment; it requires ensuring that all our stations, even the oldest ones, meet modern safety and operational standards,” Fire Chief Bernard Molloy said. “This project is a vital investment in our infrastructure, enhancing our long-term ability to serve and protect the community.”
The city and Murrieta Fire & Rescue are asking for patience from residents, particularly those near Murrieta Elementary School and the nearby daycare. Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor will coordinate with the city to minimize impacts during school drop-off and pick-up times, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Temporary traffic control measures, including detours and signage, will be in place near Juniper Street.
