A juvenile remains in critical condition after being thrown from his skateboard and suffering injuries to his head in a traffic collision on December 1
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Murrieta Road and Murphy Ranch Road and involved a Honda Civic and a juvenile male riding a manual, non-motorized skateboard.
According to the Menifee Police Department, the juvenile, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the skateboard upon impact and sustained injuries to his head along with abrasions to his hands and arms. He received medical aid at the scene before being transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The vehicle’s driver, an adult female resident of Menifee, sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate the juvenile was traveling in the southbound lane of Murrieta Road without lighting or reflective gear when he was struck, according to the Menifee Police Department. The driver stopped to render aid, and a passenger in the vehicle called 911, authorities said. At this time, investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.
