Applications for the Murrieta Fire & Rescue Fire Cadet Program open on January 1, 2026, offering young people ages 14 to 20 the opportunity to step into the world of firefighting.
In this program, cadets will practice CPR, basic fire science, operations, teamwork, and problem-solving while gaining confidence and learning how firefighters protect the community.
This hands-on program provides an eye-opening experience that helps teens discover their strengths and explore a career path they may not have previously considered.
Applicants must be between 14 and 20 years old, have completed eighth grade, maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, and complete a physical fitness test and interview in early April. Those selected will attend a one-week Fire Cadet Academy in late July, where they will learn directly from fire personnel and take on new challenges.
Applications close on February 28, 2026. For more information, click here.
