The City of Riverside is warning the public about a recent QR code scam targeting ParkRiverside pay stations throughout Downtown.
Scammers have been placing fake QR codes on garage kiosks, as well as on street and lot pay stations. The fake QR codes redirect users to a fake ParkRiverside website designed to steal personal and payment information.
The City of Riverside offers the following tips to avoid being a victim of this recent scam:
- Only use the official ParkRiverside app or website for parking payments: www.RiversideCA.gov/Parking
- Double-check the QR code size. Fake codes are often smaller than the real ones.
