Seventy-four arrests were made during a multi-agency enforcement effort conducted in the Hemet Valley on December 12.
More than 80 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies—including the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Banning Police Department, Hemet Police Department, Palm Springs Police Department, Beaumont Police Department, Riverside County Probation, Menifee Police Department, California Department of Corrections Parole, Riverside County Probation, and the California Highway Patrol— conducted parole and probation checks, traffic stops, and other enforcement actions.
A a result of this operation, 74 individuals were arrested for 49 felonies and 113 misdemeanors, including outstanding warrants. Officers also seized multiple fire arms and a variety of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, ecstasy, and PCP. Several felons were found to be in possession of illegal weapons.
A stolen motorcycle was also recovered after the driver led law enforcement on a pursuit through the area. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody without incident in the City of Riverside.
Many of the controlled substance possession-related cases were felony charges due to the changes to controlled substance possession laws enacted with the passing of Proposition 36. These felonies include mandatory appearances and are accompanied by court-ordered treatment for substance abuse.
As part of this ongoing effort, the Hemet Sheriff’s Station will periodically conduct focused enforcement operations to reduce criminal activity and address issues that impact our residents.
