The American Public Works Association (APWA) Southern California Chapter honored the City of Menifee’s newest fire station, Quail Valley Fire Station 5, as the Building Project of the Year for a city with a population between 100,000 and 200,000 residents.
The APWA Southern California Chapter represents a community of professionals in Southern California committed to fostering professional growth, facilitating meaningful connections, and promoting excellence within the industry. Projects in the building category are noted for providing critical spaces that support community services and enhance quality of life.
Fire Station 5 replaced the previous fire station built in the 1950s with a new, modern 9,000-square-foot facility that houses up to six fire personnel and has a three-bay garage that can house large equipment, with room for future expansion. The new fire station was designed to meet the needs of the community for at least the next fifty years.
“Bringing Fire Station No. 5 to the finish line was a collaborative effort between our Public Works team, several city departments, and our partners at CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department,” Public Works Director Nick Fidler said. “This facility is not only a significant improvement over the previous fire station, but it greatly strengthens our local firefighting capabilities well into the future.”
