Menifee man dies in jail cell

A 46-year-old Menifee man was found deceased in his jail cell shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Around 12:40 a.m., deputies from the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility found Quadir Boykin unresponsive in a housing unit cell. Corrections staff and jail medical personnel administered life-saving measures. Paramedics also responded and assumed life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Boykin was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, there were no signs of foul play at the scene. Boykin’s family has been notified of his death, authorities said.
