Cal Fire Riverside County announced the passing of Engineer Daniel “Danny” Cook, 45, who suffered a medical emergency this morning while responding to a structure fire.
According to the department, Cook suffered a medical emergency while actively engaged in firefighting operations. Personnel on scene began life-saving measures before he was transported to a local hospital, where he passed away.
“Engineer Cook’s passing is a devastating loss to our department, the fire service, and the community he served with dedication and professionalism,” the department said. “His commitment to duty and service will not be forgotten. Our deepest condolences are extended to Engineer Cook’s family, loved ones, and his fire department family during this incredibly difficult time.
Peer support and critical incident stress management resources are being made available to department members.
Information regarding memorial services, department honors, and funeral arrangements will be released by the department as it becomes available.
