Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) announced the launch of its new Crisis Assistance Program, designed to support customers facing sudden financial hardship while also providing community members a way to support one another.
The program provides short-term support for customers facing a sudden financial hardship. Qualifying customers may receive a one-time credit of up to $200 on their water or sewer bill once every year. Funding comes from customer donations and limited District resources and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Customers must show a recent financial hardship. Qualifying hardships include unexpected medical expenses over $1,000, funeral costs over $1,000, the loss of a job, and the death of a spouse, partner, parent, or child.
Customers requesting assistance must complete the Crisis Assistance Program application and include documentation that shows the hardship. Examples include receipts, explanation of benefits, proof of unemployment, and a death certificate.
Donations from the community help support local families who are experiencing sudden hardship. All donations are tax-deductible and stay within the community. Customers can donate by adding a donation when paying their bill online or in person at the EVMWD lobby at 31315 Chaney St., Lake Elsinore, during normal business hours.
