Moreno Valley felon arrested after allegedly discharging firearm into air

A Moreno Valley man was arrested on Tuesday after deputies say he fired a gun into the air in a residential neighborhood in Moreno Valley.

On February 24 at 7:07 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 12000 block of Heacock Street regarding reports of a male shooting a gun into the air. When deputies arrived, they located the suspect and attempted to detain him. The suspect fled on foot, leading deputies on a short foot chase before he was taken into custody without further incident.

Deputies located evidence of a shooting at the scene, along with an unserialized firearm. No injuries were reported.  

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Angel Michael Rivas of Moreno Valley, was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of an unserialized firearm, and under the influence of a controlled substance while armed.
