A Riverside man was arrested on suspicion of grand theft following an investigation into stolen AC condenser units in the City of Perris.
On February 25, at about 11:22 a.m., deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a grand theft in the area near Bryant Street and Knott Court in the City of Perris. The victim reported that three AC condenser units, valued at approximately $12,000, had been stolen.
The Perris Sheriff’s Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team assumed the investigation and identified one of the suspects as Israel Yanez, a 42-year-old resident of Riverside.
On April 2, Yanez was located in the 1900 block of Katella Avenue, in the City of Orange, where he was taken into custody without incident. Deputies also discovered drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in Yanez’s vehicle, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
During the investigation, deputies identified a location in the 5100 block of Peacock Lane in Riverside where authorities say one of the stolen AC condenser units, a loaded unregistered shotgun, and numerous rounds of assorted ammunition were located.
Yanez was booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of stolen property, a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.
Deputies are still working to identify additional suspect(s) involved and the remaining stolen items. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Deputy Daily at the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 954-210–1000.
