Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) welcomed nearly 1,600 community members to its annual Splash Water Festival on Saturday, doubling the attendance from the previous year and marking a record turnout.
The free, community event featured hands-on activities, educational exhibits and behind-the-scenes tours. Tours of EVMWD’s Regional Water Reclamation Facility were fully booked throughout the day, giving attendees a closer look at how wastewater is treated and recycled to support long-term water reliability.
The event also featured two live fire hydrant assembly demonstrations by EVMWD’s all-women Hydrant Hysteria team, the Valve Vixens, showcasing the skill and coordination required to maintain critical water infrastructure.
Additional activities included face painting, balloon artists, and interactive demonstrations hosted by multiple departments, giving attendees a hands-on look at EVMWD’s operations.
EVMWD also provided complimentary meals for attendees, made possible through sponsorships and fundraising efforts secured in 2025.
“Seeing so many families come out to learn about water and connect with our team was incredible,” EVMWD General Manager Greg Thomas said. “Events like Splash Water Festival help build understanding around the essential work we do every day to protect public health and serve our communities.”
