CHP officers arrest 505 drivers for DUI during weekend enforcement effort

The California Highway Patrol reported a significant enforcement presence this past weekend as officers across the state focused on removing impaired drivers from California roadways.

During the 12-hour Maximum Enforcement Period, CHP officers arrested 505 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence. The statewide effort was aimed at improving roadway safety and preventing crashes caused by impaired driving.

In addition to hundreds of DUI arrests, officers conducted 8,297 enforcement actions and issued 4,604 citations. CHP also cited 75 drivers for traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
