The Canyon Lake City Council unanimously voted to approve the appointment of Arron Brown as city manager. Brown has been serving as interim city manager since April 10.

Transitioning Brown from interim city manager to the permanent position of city manager provides several benefits for the city, including continuity of leadership and familiarity with ongoing projects and city operations.

Since Brown has already established working relationships with city staff, council members, and the community, this transition will reduce the learning curve and foster a smoother continuation of city policies and initiatives.

Furthermore, having firsthand experience with the city’s challenges and priorities, Brown brings a deeper understanding of long-term strategic planning. His appointment avoids the significant costs (up to $50,000) associated with recruiting a new city manager.

Brown’s term is for one year. At this time, there is no change to Brown’s salary. Council will meet with Brown on or before December 11 to discuss any potential changes in compensation and benefits.

Bringing more than 17 years of experience in government of many forms, having worked for municipalities, a Joint Powers Authority, the County of Riverside, and the State of California, Brown is equipped to lead the city through its evolving priorities and unique challenges.

Brown has served in various leadership roles, including assistant city manager and acting city manager for the City of Rialto and deputy city manager for the City of Palm Springs.

Brown holds both a Master of Business Administration specializing in management and operations and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Baptist University. Additionally, Brown has earned other notable specialized certifications in human resources, a SHRM-SCP from the Society for Human Resource Management, and a Certified Government Chief Information Officer from Rutgers University.

Brown resides in Riverside with his wife of 26 years and their three children. He is an expert marksman and enthusiast of fishing and boating.
