All businesses operating within the City of Canyon Lake are required to have a business license, including home-based businesses. Businesses based outside the city limits that conduct a business, service, or contracting work within the City Canyon Lake are also required to obtain a business license.
Annual business licenses expire on December 31. The renewal fee is $130 if paid by January 31. The fee increases to $193 if paid between February 1 and February 28 and to $256 if paid between March 1 and December 31.
Individuals no longer conducting business within the city are required to inform the city that business has been discontinued. Those who do not notify the city may receive an administration citation.
Individuals found conducting business within the City of Canyon Lake without a current business license may be subject to a citation. Administrative citations are incremental penalties for non-compliance; $100, $200, and $500 per violation(s) of the same type for every day the violation is not cured.
