Steve Baker and Travis Smith took first place in the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club monthly tournament on March 4. The duo reeled in five fish totaling 19.80 lbs. Baker also reeled in the biggest fish of the tournament, a bass weighing 5.91 lbs.
Jeremy Evans and Casey Engel come in second place with a total fish weight of 15.55 lbs. Mauro Megalo and Keneti Faagata rounded out the top three with a total fish weight of 13.33 lbs.
All bass caught were released after weigh-in.
Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday.
