Bassmasters Club announces monthly tournament winners

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its monthly fishing tournament on August 8 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Nineteen anglers on 11 boats participated.

Fishing by himself, Travis Smith came in first place with a total fish weight of 19.53 lbs. The team of Mark White and Jeremy Evens took second place with a total fish weight of 18.69 lbs. The team of Brian Hahn and Austin Moreno reeled in third place with a total fish weight of 18.36 lbs.

The “Big Fish” title also went to Smith, who caught a bass weighing 7.6 lbs.

Each team is limited to five fish. All fish are released back into the lake after being weighed.

Tournaments are held on the first Saturday that follows the monthly meeting. Tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday at 7 p.m. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the meeting location has been moved from the Magnolia Room at the country club to the Holiday Harbor parking lot until further notice. Canyon Lakers who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the club.
